Psalm 115:2-8
Re-interpreted by Ryan Shane Lopez
Why does the nation
say,
“Where
is our God?”
Our idols are
drenched in silver and gold
Lifted
high by human hands
Their names fill
our mouths
But
they do not answer us
Their image is always
before our eyes
But
they show us nothing of worth
Their voices echo
in our ears
But
their words have no meaning
Their aroma arouses
our senses
But
they provide no substance
Their hands reach
ever farther
But
they grasp nothing
Their feet climb
ever higher
But
they arrive nowhere
Nor
do they utter a truth with their lips
Those who form them
and raise them up will be like them
And
so will all who trust in them.
